CHENNAI: A software engineer wanted in connection with a dowry harassment case in Mumbai was arrested at the Chennai Airport
before he could board a plane to London.
According to the police, Chinnadurai, 35, a resident of Teynampet, married Soniya, a rich girl, four years ago. The couple
was living at Panvel, Mumbai. After a year, he allegedly began torturing his wife for more dowry. Soniya then filed a
complaint with the Panvel police.
Fearing arrest, Chinnadurai left Mumbai and returned to Chennai leaving Soniya alone there. The Mumbai police started
enquiring about his residence in Teynampet. But Chinnadurai escaped by hiding in different places in the city. The police
left for Mumbai empty handed.
Meanwhile, Sonia alerted the Mumbai police that Chinnadurai got a job offer in the UK and was expected to leave the country
any time. The Mumbai police alerted all major airports, including Chennai, with additional information on
Chinnadurai.
When Chinnadurai arrived at the airport, immigration officials detained and handed him over to the airport police. Mumbai
police have been informed about the arrest. They are expected to reach Chennai to take him to Mumbai.
